Sand Sculptures

He chiseled and mounded the face perfectly into place.
The slight shadows and reflections were matchless in curve and detail;
the lines and inclinations exquisite.

He sat back on the long beach watching the sun move
slowly to the horizon shading orange-red colors of light
across the shadowed sand face.

A work of art, completion…near perfection…his coming to time…
a subjective loving creation of his own energy and force, his own power…

Night…time passing…the winds shifting the pebbles…eyes vanish,
expression changes…details.

Eventually…

The surf and sand pound away at all substance….
All casting blindly dissolved into quiet darkness…
A magnificent cast of art…to nothing/nothing in all…
so short a time….

Reflections to love lost souls….

Pounding Sand Number 7

The Mirror

A face reflected by the mirror
Her hair dangled in naked grey, the skin spreading
At cracked edges of silvered space…waiting only
for another day.

Who was she whose lies were told a bold echo
Of glassy tones…colored by fading images
Of a life once led, of a being once born, never to
Ponder the true image as seen…waiting for something

More to be there in the rudimentary mist of illusions
 and hair…
And the lies glance and dance away
As memory is crushed never to sway….
And the grey face only a picture in the room,

Pictured at distance…angle unknown
To a life of compressed dreams and tales…of
“Whatever” reflected and taken away…
And yet jagged marks are present in pores

Where the time of cells define a face….
As she waits for truth to bear…in solemn blue
Delusions of a face in the mirror…staring….

Bio/Steve Dreben author 2012

2012: concentrating on short story forms, prose, poetry and Novella. Deep contemporary research using topical prose on the subjects of imprisonment, death penalty, interrogations, torture, human abuse, and “disappearance of innocence”. Additional kinetic concerns for victims of government rape, cruelty to women and child abuse worldwide. Regular contributor to a new on-line site of professional writers via short story, prose and poetry in Oregon and other states. Continual comments on twitter, radio, blogs, web-sites and face-book covering pinpointed subjects of interest. A new book of 13 short stories and one Novella planned to release in April 2012. Presently interacting with Entryway Publishing, all its sites, and my web site drebensviews.com. regarding all relevant subject matter.

Selling two completed novels “The Murder of Kaelin” and “Compromised Positions” which both have to do with ‘taking’ and railroading the innocents, both in areas of abuse and specifically in the prison/correctional system. “The Murder of Kaelin” tells the story in ½ documentary form of a disappeared and then murdered child taken away from her mother and family/church then killed by three collaborative victimizers. With one hundred thousand North American children disappeared every year to the sex trade, homelessness, prostitution, and the streets my “rant’ just gets louder regarding the plight of innocents. A time for our country to look at what we are becoming for children with not enough to eat, true homelessness and marginalization. Anyone who connects with me will connect with these causes and most of my writing draws these issues in “come and see”. Additionally Venessa Hart and I are developing a children’s series [Antoine & Friends] for on line and cable TV using creativity and hubris which will dabble directly and indirectly with all issues of concern in this biography. Again, “come and see” and know that we who act upon these issues can make real differences… awareness, knowledge and truth are always the best of weapons.
